Best Pizza in Dublin | Our In-Depth Pizza Analysis

Let’s have a quick look at what each one of them offers.

Sano Pizza

Website: Sano Pizza

Location: Temple Bar, Dublin 2 & Ranelagh, Dublin 6

Sano Pizza always stands out for bringing true Neapolitan flavors with authentic Italian cooking Having been around for a few years, Sano consistently delivers when it comes to great pizza.

Sano Pizza always stands out for bringing true Neapolitan flavors with authentic Italian cooking. Their handmade dough is carefully proofed for 48 hours before being baked at a high temperature, and the toppings are simple yet high-quality.

With over ten pizza flavors to choose from, plus around 21 additional toppings, Sano offers something for everyone. Whether you’re craving classic Italian toppings like Calabrian spicy salami and fennel sausage or need vegan options, they’ve got you covered.

They also offer gluten-free dough and vegetarian cheese, and their pizzas can be paired with dips like garlic or blue cheese.

I tried a gluten-free pizza with olives, peppers, and garlic. While the crust wasn’t particularly flavorful (It’s hard to find great gluten-free crust), adding pesto and a bit of chili oil brought it to life.

Overall, the pizzas are of high quality, made with fresh ingredients, and taste fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant! The toppings are fresh, and the pizzas are authentic Italian style at a very reasonable price.

If you’re not sure what to order, go for the classic Margherita—it’s topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato, cooked in a high-heat woodfire oven with dough that’s been proofed for days.

Sano isn’t just about great pizzas—they also offer freshly made pasta dishes and pistachio cannoli desserts that will keep your taste buds happy. From simple ice cream to indulgent Nutella pizza, you will find everything. Our top pick would be the tiramisu, a sweet treat that perfectly balances out the savory flavors of your meal. Their homemade strawberry lemonade is also super refreshing.

The vibe at Sano is warm and lively, making it perfect for a casual catch-up with friends. Even though it gets busy, the friendly staff are always ready to make your experience enjoyable, happily accommodating any special requests or substitutions.

The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and atmosphere. Initially, I thought the Temple Bar location might be overpriced, but I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and tasty the food was. At around $14/15, it could easily feed two people.

Since opening its first location in Temple Bar, Sano has expanded to three more locations across Ireland, so you’re never too far from a Sano pizza.

All in all, Sano Pizza offers delicious food at an affordable price, catering to everyone’s needs—whether you’re vegetarian or have special dietary requirements like gluten-free meals. It’s no wonder they’re one of the most popular eateries near Dublin 8.

However, their pizzas don’t always translate well to delivery, often arriving soggy with undercooked dough. We recommend dining in at Sano for the best experience, or ordering online for pick-up to enjoy a little slice of Italy in Ireland.

Rascals Brewing Company

Website: Rascals Brewing Company

Location: Inchicore, Dublin 8

Seeing the brewing place may seem odd, but let me assure you– they have amazing pizzas too. Rascals Brewing Company in Inchicore is a hidden gem in Dublin’s food and drink scene, combining handcrafted beers with some of the most creative pizzas you’ll find.

Rascals have been around for quite some time but launched a brand new, unique pizza menu last year. With just 11 flavors, the menu might be limited, but what it lacks in variety, it makes up for in creativity and quality. Each pizza has a fun, punny name—like the “Shroom by the Coombe” or “The Long Mile Rhodes”—and the ingredients are top-notch.

These two are my personal favorites. “Shroom by the Coombe” is loaded with roasted garlic, Toon’s Bridge buffalo mozzarella, smoked Applewood, and Portobello mushrooms. And don’t miss “The Long Mile Rhodes“—it’s got Kalamata olives, tenderstem broccoli, feta cheese, red onion, and a sprinkle of oregano. Whether you go for something simple like the Marinara or something more adventurous like the Portobello mushroom and feta cheese combo, you’re in for a treat.

The simplicity of these pizzas pairs dutifully with a crafted beer—like the zesty Rock Shandy Pale Ale has got a zesty, tart lemon kick that perfectly balances the salty, savory notes of the pizza. The pizza is thoughtfully crafted, the beer is expertly mixed, and both are presented with care. You can tell that every dish at Rascals is made with a genuine love for the craft, creating a unique and unforgettable pizza experience, all starting at just €11.00

Rascals Brewing Company isn’t just about great beer and pizza—they also cater to a variety of dietary needs with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. The space is family-friendly too, with amenities like a baby changing area and high chairs, making it a great spot for everyone.

And don’t miss out on the tours!

We booked the premium brewery tour, and it was fantastic. The tour itself is just the right length, giving you a real sense of Rascals’ humble beginnings and their exciting future. Afterward, enjoying pizza and pints was a pure blessing—the beers were truly unique and delicious, and the stone oven pizzas were out of this world.

I was thrilled with the menu’s options, and the ingredients were listed. I tried the Buffalo Saints pizza, which I highly recommend, along with the Basil & Raspberry Saison pilot beer.

The Rascals team was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. We had a lovely tour with Gina, our outstanding guide. We didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out to be an A+ experience!

While the pizza menu isn’t extensive, the quality, creativity, and overall experience more than makeup for it. Rascals is quickly becoming one of Dublin’s go-to spots for a fun night out. Whether you’re planning a quick visit or a full-day outing, Rascals has you covered.

Just a heads-up: there’s a service charge for tables of six or more, which is mentioned at the top of the menu but not on the booking form, so keep that in mind to avoid any surprises.

Dublin Pizza Company

Website: Dublin Pizza Company

Location:Glasthule & Aungier Street, Dublin 2

Dublin Pizza Company (DPC) has quickly become a must-visit for pizza lovers in the city, and it’s easy to see why—they’ve truly mastered the art of pizza. What sets them apart? For starters, they’ve got a seamless online ordering system, perfect for busy folks, and they offer late-night pizza, just when you need it most. These guys know their pizza game inside and out.

It all started with a trip to Naples, where the founders learned the craft of authentic pizza-making. They brought that knowledge back to Dublin and even built a polytunnel to grow their fresh ingredients. Since then, DPC has been serving up Naples-style pizzas, made with traditional Irish produce and their organic ingredients. In just a few years, they’ve become a go-to for locals recommending the best pizza in town—and that speaks volumes.

Located on Aungier Street in the city center, DPC is conveniently close to the hustle and bustle, yet it still manages to offer quick service and top-quality pizza.

It’s strictly takeaway—no seating available—so you order at the window and trust me, it’s always busy. From late-night cravings to casual pick-ups, it’s constantly buzzing with people grabbing their pizza or delivery riders waiting for orders.

The easy online and phone ordering makes it even better—you just show up at the pre-arranged time and grab your pizza, with no hassle.

But Why do I love Dublin Pizza Company the most? It’s a total game-changer for those late-night pizza cravings! In a city where most kitchens shut down early, DPC has your back when you’re hungry after hours.

I remember having a long day, and when my dinner plans fell through, DPC saved the day. I grabbed two pizzas—one Margherita for me and a large DPC for my friend—and let me tell you, we were so happy with them! They even let me swap out nduja for prosciutto, which was awesome.

The dough was thick and chewy on the edges, and thin in the middle, and the ingredients tasted super fresh. The sauce was full of flavor, and the crust had that perfect light, airy texture with just the right amount of char from the brick oven.

It only took about three minutes to cook, and honestly, it was hard not to eat it right there on the street. Every bite was packed with deliciousness—fresh mozzarella, basil, and a super tasty marinara sauce. The large size is perfect for sharing with a friend.

The toppings are generous, and the cheese is melted to gooey perfection. They have so many pizza options, so there’s something for everyone. And if you love cheese, their four-cheese pizza is a dream, It’s loaded with Toonsbridge Mozzarella, Smoked Scamorza, Mature Cashel Blue Cheese, and 18-month-aged Coolea Shavings. Each bite is a creamy, smoky, and tangy delight!

Best of all? The price! At €12.50 for a 13″ Margherita, you’re getting amazing pizza without spending a fortune.

Consistently delicious pizza, great prices, and super easy service—so, if you’re craving takeaway pizza for a chill night in, you know where to go.

Forno 500
Website: Forno 500

Location: Dame Street, Dublin 2

Forno 500 is a standout among Dublin’s Italian restaurants, and it’s easy to see why. From the inviting atmosphere to the exceptional food, it’s a place where you can truly enjoy a delicious meal. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, and the quality of the dishes is top-notch. It often leaves me completely satisfied.

At Forno 500, you can feel their passion for making pizza the right way. They stick to the classic Neapolitan style with excellent dough, a simple San Marzano tomato sauce, and traditional fior di latte cheese.

Sourdough has become the star of the bread world, and Forno 500 uses it for their pizza bases. The dough is lightly cooked, giving it a perfect balance of a slightly chewy, dense crust that holds up well with every bite (so if you prefer pancakes over crepes, this is for you). They focus on the essentials—extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil making their pizzas all about the perfect base rather than elaborate toppings. If you appreciate a straightforward, classic pizza, Forno 500 on Dame Street is the place to be.

Their menu also features some surprises with unique flavors that set them apart from other Italian spots. They offer four exclusive pizzas, such as the frutti di mare for €19 and the capricciosa light for €17.50.

The Montana white pizza is a standout, especially when enjoyed with a pint of stout. My friend tried the pizza with nduja, rocket, and Parmesan. The menu mentions that the crust will be chewy rather than crispy, and it truly delivered. The dough’s fermentation gave it a great flavor, with a toasty edge that made it stand out.

I had the pasta amatriciana with homemade spaghetti, I love simple Italian sauces, and this four-ingredient version was fantastic. I usually remove excess fat when making this dish, but this sauce had just the right balance of flavor.

Everything came out hot and tasty. It’s no wonder the place was buzzing—tables were full as soon as they cleared. We even spotted a lot of Italians dining here, which is always a great sign. The cozy, warm vibe of the restaurant made it all the more inviting.

Make sure to try the tiramisu; it’s a perfect finish to the meal. The calamari was some of the best we had in years. If you want authentic Italian food, Forno 500 is a great choice.

Just a couple of things could be better: the wine list needs work. Without carafes, you have to buy overpriced glasses of not-so-great wine—over €7 for a small glass is too much. Plus, there’s a 10% service fee for groups of five or more.

But overall, Forno 500 serves up a fantastic meal and is open daily from noon until late. If you’re in the mood for a great dinner, this spot has got you covered!

Di Fontaine’s
Website: https://difontainespizzeria.ie/

Location: Parliament Street, Dublin 2

When it comes to pizza in Dublin, Di Fontaine’s stands out from the crowd. While we’ve raved about some other spots, there’s something different about Di Fontaine’s—it’s got that no-fuss charm that screams New York-style pizza. Located on Parliament Street, this place has been serving up massive, delicious slices for years, and it’s a real favorite for anyone craving something quick, tasty, and filling.

The first thing that hits you at Di Fontaine’s is the size of the pizza slices—they’re huge! One slice is enough to keep you going, but they’re so good that you’ll probably want more.

For me, Di Fonty’s feels like home. The vibe? Unmatched. The tunes are pumping, and let’s not forget the garlic dip, parmesan, and chili flakes station where you can sprinkle on that extra magic.

The pizzas are thin-crust, with just the right amount of crisp and chew, and they don’t skimp on toppings. Whether you’re a pepperoni fan, love a classic Margherita, or want to load up on veggies, they’ve got you covered. Honestly, it’s my safe space after a night out, and after one visit, I bet it’ll be yours too.

Vegan? No worries. They’ve got you covered with an incredible vegan slice or calzone. Their homemade cashew cheese is a game-changer, and they’ll customize your slice or calzone with extra veggies if you ask. Recently, I made a special trip just to get their 20-inch vegan pizza and bring it home—it was worth every penny and every mile.

The non-vegan pizzas are amazing too, though! Plus, the team at Di Fontaine’s does more than just pizza—they give back to the community, offering pay-it-forward meals and donating pizzas to those in need. It’s not just a pizza place; it’s a feel-good spot with heart.

Di Fontaine’s is also a go-to for late-night cravings. They’re open late, which is perfect if you’ve been out and need a quick, tasty fix before heading home. And if you ask any of the resident New Yorkers, they’ll tell you it’s the closest you can get to authentic NYC pizza this side of the Atlantic.

So, if you’re looking for a giant, tasty slice to

kick off your day or end your night, Di Fontaine’s is the place to go. Just be prepared—while the pizza is amazing, prices are creeping up a bit, with €4 for a cheese slice and €5.50 for one with toppings. But for a slice that’s the closest thing to authentic New York pizza in Dublin, it’s still worth every cent.

PI Pizza
Website: https://www.pipizzas.ie/

Location: George’s Street & Temple Bar, Dublin 2

Pi Pizza, located on George’s Street and now with a new spot in Temple Bar, has become a true Dublin institution since it opened in 2018. This is one place where you’ll rarely hear complaints. Their wood-fired, 72-hour risen dough with its signature leopard-spot crust delivers a pizza experience that’s nothing short of exceptional. When Pi first opened, there were queues out the door, and the hype was justified.

Their menu is simple yet refined, focusing on high-quality ingredients and unique flavor combinations. I opted for their signature Nduja pizza, and it didn’t disappoint—the spicy sausage was perfectly complemented by a touch of honey, and the crust was crisp yet light. The crust has that Dalmatian spot effect, with large air bubbles that mean you won’t feel too weighed down following a pizza here. The fresh tomato sauce is a standout, and it’s easy to see why people rave about Pi long after finishing their meal. The ground sausage is incredible too.

The atmosphere is lively, and even though we sat near a noisy stag party (it is Temple Bar, after all), the casual, vibrant vibe made for a fun dining experience. You can see your pizza being cooked in the wood-fired oven, adding to the anticipation. Service was quick and friendly, and we got our pizzas in about 10 minutes, even on a busy night.

Pi isn’t just about pizza; they offer a well-curated drinks menu as well. However, I’d recommend sticking with their beer selection over wine. The Malbec, priced at €8.75, felt a bit small compared to what you’d get in a pub.

For dessert, we tried the ice cream, which was of excellent quality, alongside a rich chocolate mousse that paired perfectly with a good red wine. The whole meal was thoroughly enjoyable, meeting the high expectations Pi had built.

What truly sets Pi apart from other pizzerias is its refined approach to flavors. Their personal-sized pizzas are packed with unique toppings like Gubbeen Chorizo, Piquillo Peppers, and Roasted Pineapple Purée. They also prioritize supporting Irish producers, adding a local twist to their Italian-inspired menu.

Pi is perfect for a quick post-pub bite, a trendy date, or a laid-back dinner with friends. With its hipster vibe, quality ingredients, and expert staff, Pi provides a professional pizza experience in a fun and relaxed setting.

If you’re visiting with a large group, keep in mind there’s a 12.5% service charge for parties of six or more, but it goes entirely to the servers, so it’s all good.

Little Pyg
Website: Little Pyg

Location: 59 William St S, Dublin 2, D02 E521, Ireland

Now, we’re talking about Ireland’s official #1 pizza spot, Little Pyg (which also ranks #15 in Europe!) You might have already heard the news, as this isn’t their first time—they’ve been voted the best for two years in a row. It is the only pizzeria in Ireland serving Michelin Guide-recognized pizzas, so it’s no shock that they keep winning awards. I’d been curious to try it for a while and finally got my chance.

Located right in the Powerscourt Shopping Centre, Little Pyg is set in what used to be the garden of Powerscourt House. The space is beautiful, with fancy chandeliers made of ostrich feathers and walls that have stood for over 25 years. The restaurant is always well-decorated. I loved the fresh flowers on the tables that change with the seasons—there were little purple clovers this time.

Once you sit down, you forget you’re in a shopping center and feel like you’re in a fancy restaurant. The surroundings are cool, with good music playing. Even though it can get crowded, it’s never too noisy. The tables are spaced out nicely, so it’s a great spot for chatting with friends without having to shout.

I’d read some mixed reviews about the service before going. Some people said it was slow, they had to wait a long time for drinks, or the pizza was soggy in the middle. Others mentioned issues with small tables and staff clearing plates too quickly. Even though these concerns, I was too curious about their Michelin Guide recognition not to try it.

I’m glad I did. I visited on a Thursday evening with two friends. We were given a small table at first, but the staff tried to make sure we were comfortable. The service was friendly and attentive.

I ordered a Margherita pizza, and my friends had a Spicy Gorgonzola, Parma, and 4 Cheese pizza. The toppings were generous, and the flavors were amazing—this was top-notch pizza. The pizzas were thin with a crispy edge, and the crust was the thinnest and best I’ve ever had.

The dough was especially impressive—it
